ADDICTION
My wife and I have been living the addiction life for pretty much our whole lives. Addiction affected our loved ones and our lives as children and played a part in shaping how we would grow up. The way we looked at things, our priorities, the way we responded to things around us, were in large part, shaped by the addictions of others who were in our lives. As we got a little older, addiction was there waiting for us to join the party. Alcohol. Cigarettes. Little stuff. Then marijuana. Then meth. Then sex. These things controlled us and shaped our lives. We were not in control. Our lives were very much OUT of control. For years. And years. And years. It seems, literally, like a lifetime of it.
This page is designed to operate much like one would collect rainwater. It rains, we collect the rain, and in the end, we can drink the water, and life is better. As we counsel others who are walking down the roads we walked down, we will make an effort to collect the useful things and put them here. That way, we can have a conversation with a person who is struggling without actually having to take the time to do it. A person can come here and dig through the advice and find answers without ever having to meet with us or talk to us directly. Let's be honest, we can't talk to every single person who comes for help. We DO have a desire for that, and we talk with many people, pretty much daily. But we only have so much time to do that. We have lives to live, too, children to raise, ministry to build, and it's just her and me. Two screwed-up people who still make mistakes and screw things up like everyone else. We are only capable of so much.
This page, hopefully, will compensate, and allow us to help MORE people than we would be able to otherwise.
