SUPPORT OUR OUTREACH
There is a lot that goes into organizing an outreach event.
You start with the reason that you're going to do it and the theme of it.
Why are we doing it? People are in need. We want to meet those needs.
People are hungry. Answer? Food.
People need things. Answer? Donatable items. Clothes. Blankets. Other items.
People need hope. Answer? The Gospel. God's Word and His promises.
People need love. Answer? Time and compassion. We talk to people and love on them.

Then we go to theme and timing. Obviously, Thanksgiving and Christmas are no-brainers. 4th of July is a time when people automatically "plan" to do something. Easter is another. There are several times a year when it's just natural to plan an event and it's just natural for people to consider coming.

Then you have to get the word out to two different groups of people.
A. The people who have the needs to be met.
B. The people who are willing to help make the event possible.

I have a speaker and a microphone now, so we will be planning to offer music as an enticement of sorts to bring people out and spread the word that these outreach events are happening. Many will come simply out of curiosity. They will, Lord willing, encounter the Gospel message and make a decision to surrender their life to Christ. In any event, food is served and tangible needs are met as people get clothing, blankets, backpacks, even tents and hygiene items that they need and have been going without.

More than that, they come into contact with people who care about them. The poor, needy, and homeless are often discarded and disregarded by society as a whole and they begin to think that they don't matter and have no value. Obviously, we know that God does not see them that way. He loves them more than anyone could, and we want them to experience that love. We want them to regain some value at these outreach events. You matter. God loves you. He can do amazing things in you and in your life. Give your life to Him and trust Him with your heart, your mind, and your life.
